Claims Advocacy

Claims Advocacy & Support

When a claim arises, you need more than a policy number. You need a broker who knows your coverage inside out and knows how to move the carrier to resolution. That is what we do.

A Broker Who Advocates — Not a Carrier.

Insurance Brokers Company, Inc. (Brokers & Insurance Company by J.D.) is a licensed insurance broker. Claims are administered by the underlying carrier under the terms of your policy – but you should never be alone in that process. Your J.D. account manager stays with you from first notice through resolution.

We know what your policy covers, we know who to contact at the carrier, and we know how to push a claim toward the resolution your coverage entitles you to. Our role is advocacy, coordination, and support – on your side of the table.

  • Policy expertise. We know the coverage terms, sub-limits, and exclusions that determine what the carrier owes.
  • Carrier relationships. We work directly with claims adjusters at the underwriting carrier and reinsurance partners.
  • Documentation guidance. We help you compile the right materials the first time, so the carrier can process efficiently.
  • Settlement review. We advise on whether carrier offers reflect your full coverage entitlement.
Our Role

How We Support You Through a Claim

1
Immediate Notification

Contact your J.D. account manager as soon as an incident occurs. We review your policy terms, confirm coverage applicability, and initiate communication with the relevant carrier on your behalf.

2
Documentation Guidance

We provide a documentation checklist specific to your coverage type and help you compile the materials the carrier will require for efficient processing.

3
Carrier Coordination

We maintain direct relationships with the claims teams at your carrier and reinsurance partners. We track the claim status, escalate where necessary, and keep you informed at every stage.

4
Resolution Support

We review settlement offers against your policy terms and advise on whether the proposed resolution reflects your full coverage entitlement. We do not settle on your behalf — but we ensure you understand what you are entitled to.

Single Point of Contact

Your Account Manager, Your Claim

Your account manager is your single point of contact throughout the claims process. They coordinate directly with the carrier, track progress, and keep you updated. For active policyholders, direct contact details for your assigned account manager are provided at policy activation.

Common Questions

Claims FAQ

All claims are administered by the underlying licensed insurance carrier under the terms of your policy. J.D. acts as your broker – we do not underwrite, process, or settle claims directly. Our role is to advocate for you: reviewing your coverage, coordinating with the carrier's claims team, and ensuring you understand what your policy entitles you to.

Your assigned account manager's direct contact details are provided at policy activation and are included in your policy documentation. For urgent matters outside business hours, our main line at (336) 287-0592 is monitored by our team and responses are prioritized based on policy status and urgency.

If a claim has the potential to exceed primary policy limits, your account manager will engage the carrier's reinsurance coordination team on your behalf. Excess-layer coverage arrangements depend on the specific carrier programme; we coordinate the process so you are not required to negotiate with reinsurers directly. Your account manager remains your single point of contact throughout.

If a settlement offer or coverage determination is disputed, we advocate for a reconsideration through the carrier's internal claims review process and, where the policy provides for it, through independent mediation or arbitration under the terms of your policy. Dispute resolution mechanisms are contractual and vary by carrier – your account manager will walk you through the specific process available under your programme.

Yes. If you are dealing with active patient harm, an ongoing business shutdown, or regulatory intervention, notify your account manager immediately and specify the urgency. We flag the matter with the carrier's claims team and advocate for prioritized review. Expedited handling depends on the carrier's protocols; we ensure the request reaches the right people quickly.

We recommend that all policyholders maintain a current documentation readiness package. This should include: a copy of the current policy declarations page, a list of all insured locations with facility contacts, contact information for facility managers and operations leads, current financial statements (for business interruption claims), access credentials for your IT incident response team (for cyber claims), and regulatory compliance contacts in each jurisdiction of operation. Your account manager can provide a sector-specific readiness checklist upon request.
